Max'd Kidz take 4th in D-League event #3

The Kidz killed it in the prelims - #1 seed going into the playoffs - but things fell apart just a little in the semis and the 3rd/4th match.  We could have won it. We should have won it. But instead we left a little disappointed and learned some more valuable lessons.

Bonus Balls Event #4 Sept 2010

Winning First is WAY more fun than winning Second. Last weekend we played in the 4th event of the Bonus Balls Series - we had the #1 seed going into the playoffs - we were in the Finals - we won Game 1 - and then we let down. A stale in Game 2 and a loss in Game 3 took us to a 1 on 1 tiebreaker. We tied. Another 1 on 1 - we tied! Another 1 on 1 - we tied! Another 1 on 1 - we lost! Quadruple overtime. And we lost. Such a bummer. It's still great to win 2nd Place - but we feel we had this one and just lost it. It was no one persons fault. We should have finished it in Game 2 or 3 of the Finals. The guys who did the 1 on 1's put a lot of weight on their shoulders. I was really worried because it was my time to play if there were 2 more ties. So I think we learned a pretty valuable lesson this week - or two! First, finish strong and don't put yourself in that position. Second, we should practice 1 on 1's more.

RPL Event #4 Reno, NV 5-Man

OK - I've been catching the blog up all day - so this is gonna be short and sweet. We played 5 Man. We won. That put us back in First Place for the season in overall points in The RPL with 2 events to play.

Bonus Balls Tournament

Max'd Kidz made the long drive to Valencia/Castaic to play in the RPL affiliate event - Bonus Balls at Warped Paintball Park.

Outcome - 1st Place - which won the team free entry to the RPL Event #4 in Reno, Nevada.

The team played really well, going undefeated and taking the #1 seed into the playoffs. They rolled through the quarters and semis pretty easily and then faced a tough Critical Kids team in the Finals. The tourney ended up being decided by a One on One. Team Captain Brandon Teunissen pulled out the overtime win by winning the One on One.

The RPL Event #3 Wrap Up

The RPL Event #3 was a blast. For a more detailed story see the wrap up story on BallersCafe.com.

First, the pics. Top - Max'd Kidz getting their 2nd Place trophy. 2nd - Sawyer warming up on Sunday morning for the event. 3rd - Our campsite on the Marine base. 4th - the smithpaintball booth at the event. 5th - More of Sawyer warming up for the playoffs on Sunday morning.

What can we say that isn't in the BallersCafe story? We had fun. It was a great event. More teams should consider playing this series because it is so much fun. We took 2nd Place again and are now in 2nd Place in the Series Overall Points.

Team XSV were the refs again and did a really good job I think, even though we lost in the Finals to GSquad. They beat us straight up in 3 games.

Camping was a lot of fun too. I guess that just about covers it. next event is in Reno and we are looking forward to it.

WCPPL Event #2 at SC Village

WCPPL - First, the pics - Top Chris, Brad, Sawyer and Jonah head out to "Stomp some walk ons" after getting bumped on Sunday. Middle, Sawyer holding the from that Brad caught when we camped on the fields Saturday night. Bottom, our campsite.

The event - There were 36 teams. We made it to Sunday with a 3-1 record. We got robbed by the refs on Sunday. We might have still lost, but they never gave us a chance to find out. Losing 5 bodies in games (none with paint on them) pretty much killed us. Don't have too much more to say about that - sort of like Forest Gump.

It was a great event, we just hate losing to refs instead of paintball teams. Camping at SC Village was a bunch of fun - although there were way too many mosquitos.
